I just wondered how often everyone keeps in touch with the breeder that we buy our pups from.
I love to write to both Bruce's mum and his fathers breeder so I can tell them how he is doing.
I just feel that its nice that they can see and hear that the pup they trusted me with is having the best time of his life.
It must be hard for them to say good bye to the pups, I don't know if I could as its a sad time to see them leave and I think if I was to breed my house would be full of Newfies :)

Stu

I keep in touch with Tysons breeder. I send them a letter and some pics every few months, just to let them know how he is getting on. :-) I have just sent them a christmas card that said on the front 'From The Dog' :D i thought it was cute. I put in a letter and some more pics too. It must be nice for them to see how the puppies are growing in their new homes. :-)

I keep in touch with all of mine, I'd hate to hand over a pup and then never hear from the people again!  Even if it's just an occasional email/letter/photograph, I think it's appreciated.

I keep in touch with my Weims breeder pretty often, but she only lives around the corner from me, im always emailing piccies to her too and often go for walks with her and Bruno's sister, mum and dad! Its great to see them altogether running around!

We keep in touch via phone/email every couple of weeks, but our pup is only 16 weeks so it is early days yet! It was very hard for them to say good bye to all of the pups, and so I think they really appreciate the updates! I will send them a Christmas card from us all, with yet another big, huge, enormous 'thank you for letting us have him' LOL

I like to think that in 10 years time we will still be in touch, and if they have another litter that we will be talking about more than one old pup by then!! :D

I keep in touch with Dinos breeder as she requested we do and she is lovely and helpful if we need advice, Drishtis breeder never mentioned it but she probably couldnt keep up as she has constant litters available.

Harrys breeder likes to know how he is getting on also.

Thank you Julie, but surely you meant to say.....That old battle axe :D :D

Edited to say, Julie even sent Ellie (Dino's sister) a happy birthday e-mail......And I.....completely forgot it.

I keep in touch with all my dogs breeders.I meet up with some of them at shows and exchange photos etc.I also know they are always on the end of the phone should I need any help.
One of my breeders boards my dogs for me too when I go away as she is the only person I would trust having had a bad experience with a boarding kennels.

My older dog was obtained as a cruelty case but we still see the lady who bred him and she comes to say hello to him.Thing is she walks up and says "hows my puppy then", with a big cheesy grin.It makes me feel like knocking her block off but i smile and say "fine thanks".
My younger dog was a rescue from an illegal breeding of a failed police dog. When i found out i called her and she wasnt too happy i found out. Also she was sold to us a pedigree but not KC registered and she grew to be a GSD cross BC.So no,i dont really keep up with my dogs breeders. :)

I lost touch with the breeders of our dog Shadow after moving house twice and misplacing addresses and phone numbers etc.  Shadow developed cancer at the age of 5 and died very suddenly.  I spent alot of time digging out all old paperwork and photos of him and came upon the breeders details again.  I phoned them out of courtesy to tell them what had happened - I was also interested to find out if any of Shadows brothers or sisters had had litters of their own so we could maybe one day have a relative of Shadows come live with us.  It was only then that I found out that Shadows Mum, Dad and older brother had all also died at early ages from cancer related problems.  Had I known that before he was ill it may have made his illness diagnosed quicker and have been treatable.
I will always stay in touch with breeders from now on.  Our new puppy comes home to us in January and I imagine our breeders will end up telling me not to contact them quite so often!!!!!

We keep in touch with our dogs breeders, however I see them all at shows anyway, but am always emailing photo's.
From a breeders perspective, it is lovely to receive letters and photo's from the puppies you have bred. We had our first litter back in January and have had letters written by our puppies to us - which I think is lovely! We always get photo's and email updates, and a general phone call. When the puppies were 6 months old, we decided that we would go and visit all of them in their homes. It was wonderful to see them all so happy, and hear all the stories from their owners on how cheeky they are! It really puts your mind at rest to see the puppies, you can see their weight and how happy they are. No amount of photo's or phone calls can tell you that.

gosh, my breeder has been brill, and she has been there with us all the way the past few months. We email, phone n as my pup just started the show scene we been meeting at shows too.:) she has been great. I got a pic made into a Christmas card for her- ASDA done it for couple of quid. Giving it to her this weekend and i know she'l be chuffed with it. I've found myself saying recently, ''my friend xxxx who bred my pup, rather than just refering to her as ''my breeder'', which is great:)

I have become good friends with the breeder of mine, after getting my girl Delilah. I visited about every two months. When they wanted to breed another litter  I even took 2 weeks off work to go and stay there and help out... and when one pup from that litter broke his tail I took him to live with me. If I go on my hols my two go to the breeder, if the breeder goes on her hols her dogs come to me! Its great!!

We like to keep in touch with our breeder, she has been very helpfull and supplied us with lots of valuable information. We have sent her pictures and keep her updated. It's nice to know that breeders take such care in what they do :)

My breeder lives in the next village and we know each other anyway. But I always make a point of doing pictures for her regularly and she loves to have pups back on holidays or indeed any time at all! I'm off to a football match in Reading tomorrow and she can't wait to get round to collect him in the morning and keep him till I come home. And when I do get home there will be a lingering farewell before I'm allowed to take him away again!! :)

One breeder I occasionally phone, and send a Christmas card. Another one I mainly keep in touch with through her friend who has email. And the third one is a pretty good friend of mine now, we meet at shows when we can, and have long chats about Henry! :-)
- By echo [gb] Date 10.12.05 12:20 UTC
We see our breeder at shows and talk with her regularly on the phone. We also keep in close contact with the breeder or our boys dad, who has also been very helpful.  Since putting our breeder on the web we get lots of lovely pics and messages from previous puppy owners and she is always pleased to hear about them and gets me, personal assistant to the dogs as well, to send messages back.  If anyone has a health query, not just us, she will ring them to discuss it.

She is a treasure as is my boys, dads breeder.

I've not long come home with my pup after his day out with his breeder and his brother and sister. He's totally played out and only just managed to get upstairs and onto the pillows before going zonko but I felt brilliant when she said he'd been a real pleasure to have and kept telling me how well trained he was and how obedient. Personaly I reckon its like when your kids behave perfectly everywhere except at home but I was still made up that she was so happy about how he'd turned out!
