A find of mine told me today in the garden centre that I shop have a compost heap, well actually she put it in the trolley and made be buy it lol.  I have never had a compost heap before and wondered if anyone out there had one and what materials etc can you put in it, is it just vegetables etc or can you  put left over food from meals etc in there or can you put dog mess in it etc?#

We put all fruit and vegetable peelings and leftovers - egg shells - teabags. We don't put any meat in or dog poo. Also put in any garden waste, grass cuttings, soft prunings etc.

Other people may have other ideas :)
