My friends have a Dobergirl who is 4yrs old they considered breeding her last year but thankfully decided against it after I exagerated slightly how many dogs die giving birth(she had no health checks done and isnt a good example of the breed).
Anyway the couple split up and he took the dog with him, he moved into his aunts house, the bitch came in season and his aunts entire retriever got to her, so he took her to his vet who scaned her and claimed to see puppies(while she was in season). He asked for the injection to abort the puppies if there were any but the vet wasnt too keen he was pushing him to let her have these puppies as she is such a good natured dog(yes she is but not a reason to have puppies). At least he did something right and insisted on the injection.
I dont know who is more stupid the owner for not being more carefull sorry but if you dont have space to keep dog and bitch separate then send one of them to kennels, or the vet for even suggesting she have these puppies maybe a trip to the local rescue would be in order for both of them to see how many dogs really end up there.
Rant over

I'm starting to really worry about all these clueless vets we hear about......... :(

Hi abbymum,

>I dont know who is more stupid

I'd say the vet - easily :(  At least the owner has an excuse because of the change in circumstances and perhaps not being fully able to rely on everyone in his new household to be as dedicated to avoidance tactics as most who are used to living with both sexes entire.  But the vet!  Heck that beggars belief

Thank goodness the owner had the common sense to dig his heels in and demand the injection.  The outcome could certainly have been worse if he hadn't.

Regards, Teri
