hi my bitch is on day 63 and showing no signs whatsoever can anybody tell me how long they can go over there due date and it still be safe? this is her second litter and was to the day last time. thanx mel

Up to a week, but a lot depends on what is usual in the breed and the bitch line.

On what days was she mated?  Sperm can live for up to a week in the reproductive tract, and at least for four days or so, so your bitch may not have conceived for quite a while after mating.

Last year I ahd a bitch go over by 4 days (usually a couple of days early), but when Vet checked her 4 weeks after mating he was sure fetuses were younger than 4 weeks.

Did you have her palpated or scanned?

agree with brainless...she may have a few more days to go .or taken on the second mating I would say if she is bright and well let the vet know you are still waiting

hi thanx for quick reply only mated her once this time on the 27 sept not had her scanned but vet checked shes fine. like i said before she was bang on the day last time just needed to know so i can be prepared well i look like playing the waitin game a bit longer lol thanx again mel
