I have put a deposit on a puppy when it was four weeks old due to the high demand for the litter, when we first visited the pup at four weeks, her eyes were clear bright with no signs of watering, as were the other puppies, we have just been to visit again today two weeks later and noticed that she and all of the other puppies have orange stained fur around the eyes, as does their mum.  The eyes themselves did not appear to be inflammed or sore, could it be that the mother or the puppies have licked it each others eyes resulting in the staining? Should I be concerned? Is this something temporary that occurs when puppies are young.  If this helps answer the question, the three puppies from the litter are now feeding on their own and are away from their mum, this is the only real difference in conditions that I can see, the conditions seemed clean and warm as far as you can expect although there was a dog mess smell.  I mentioned the orange eyes to the kennel cleaner but she thought there was no problem with this and treated it as a normal occurence, the breeder herself who also runs a boarding kennel what disinfecting some of the runs, so I was unable to speak to her about my concerns today but I would like to know what other peoples thoughts are please before I mention anything to her.

Regardless of the eyes, I would avoid a breeder who thinks that cleaning runs is more important than spending time with a prospective puppy owner! :(  If she doesn't have time to speak to you before you buy the puppy, what time will she give you if you have a problem afterwards?

I agree with Val. I would NEVER consider anybody else but me showing puppies to a prospective buyer, regardless of whether they had seen them before or not. Buyers always have lots of questions and the breeder should take the time to answer them all.
