I walk my staffy in a harness, and I find him much easier.  Mind I am no expert, he is my 1st staffy, maybe their will be and staffy breeder on soon who might be able to help.

The are very strong little dogs.

It is easier to walk on a harness -  but the best thing to do is to teach her to walk to heal ;-)

I have found the best way to do this is REFUSE to move when they are pulling.
When she starts to pull stand still & pull her back to you & when she is close to you give her a treat.

At first you will find you have to treat every few seconds to keep her to heel, but then you can increase the time between treats to 1min then 2mins etc untill you only have to treat occassionally.

I start off with very yummy treats like ham & chicken cut up in to small pieces & when they are walking ok take a less value treats.

Once you start this you should never let her pull as it will confuse her.

This will not work overnight & she will have shorter walks for a few days.
It does work though if you are consistant,
All mine walk ok when out on their own - I still can not stop them pulling when out together so I put them all on harnesses!

Hi Guest,
I use a dogmatic on my staffy.  It does not go up into the eyes at all (much better design than halti IMO).

Keep your dog to your left and hold the lead in your right hand accross your body. With your left hand, hold the lead in the middle to reduce the lead length so that you have full control. If he starts to pull just gently tug at the lead with your left hand and say heel. When you are walking and he starts to pull hard, stop, and pull the lead with your left hand gently and tell him to sit. Stay there for a few seconds and walk on. You will probably find that he will stay sat for a second after you start walking. This really helped with mine and I couldnt belive how quickly he picked it up.

Initially dont try taking him to his fave place as he will be so excited to get there it might not work. You could try going a different way.

Hope this helps.
