Hello all, i have just stumbled apon this site and noticed that there are many natural feeders here and so i am wondering if some of you can help me please.
i have a 4 yrs old harrier hound who has been fed on a mostly natural diet for the last 18 months/2 yrs. normally i would feed her chicken wings/backs, carcasses, thighs, drumsticks, oxtail, hearts, liver, tripe, mince and sardines as well as wholemeal pasta, rice, dogmeal, and veg. about a month ago however a family member gave me a bag of beef mince (brought from pets at home frozen food section) because her dog would'nt eat it. i gave this to my dog with brown rice and cooked spinach. later that night she threw the whole lot up. at the time i put it down to the meat as it was the first time i had used it and so i threw it all away. since then i have continued to feed her as normal, mostly with chicken pieces and sardines.
recently, due to the chance in weather, we have been eating alot of stews ect and so our dog has been eating stews with dogmeal and veg and also the occasional tin of butchers tripe (purely because i have forgotten to get out her dinner or we are eating something she can't have. she is eating this about 2 a week)
last night i again was cooking lamb and had some raw meat spare so i gave this to her with dogmeal and carrots. again in the night she threw the whole lot up and has also been sick again this evening, although she is ok in herself. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem with their dog. do you think it is a red meat thing as she seems fine on chicken? It just seems strange to me as i never had any problems with her when i first changed her on to this diet. also i don't know if this is related but she has also recently started to eat poo again when out walking (she used to do this all the time when we first got her but she outgrew it and has'nt done it for about 2 years.

Well it can't reallly be a "red meat" thing can it if you have fed oxtail, hearts, liver and mince etc (unless of course you are feeding only chicken mince).
You also do not mention whether you have always given her the food cooked (I see you feed grains) or raw.
If this is the first experiment with raw then sometimes dogs stomachs rebel at the novelty.
