Hi. My 12 week old CKCS pup has got runny poo's at the moment - started Tuesday morning and the fact that he had his 2nd vacc and was wormed yesterday probably hasn't helped. He's not been pooing during the day but I was up with him 5 times last night and 4 the night before - he's fast asleep now and I need my bed!! I feed him naturediet puppy which has totally agreed with him up until now. Do you think that he would benefit from some probiotics? If so, does anyone know where they can be purchased without getting them online? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Edited to add - I do have some bioplus probiotic which I give to my Rabbits, does anyone know if this is ok for pups?

It's ok, rang the vets and they have some pro biotics there for me to collect.

Half a teaspoon of live yoghurt for 2 or 3 days would do the job just as well in my experience :)

Hi luvhandles, you can use any probiotics for dogs, and the ones that you can get OTC from say Holland and Barrett are excellent.

The key thing to look for is as many strains of bacteria as possible (at least 6) and the number (in billion) of bacteria.

The advantage of using probiotic capsules over live yoghurt is that the latter generally only contains a maximum of 3 differing bacteria (if that) and that the bacteria may not survive the journey through the stomach to the intestine where it is required.

Always keep probiotics in the fridge once opened and where possible use non dairy probiotics.
