Topic Dog Boards / General / Pain after microchipping
- By luvhandles Date 24.11.05 15:02 UTC
Hi. I had my 12 week old CKCS pup microchipped today along with 2nd vacc and the area must be quite tender as he's yelped a couple of times when I've picked him up - he's a big softie and comes for cuddles all the time! Will this area always be sensitive or will it wear off after a few days when the chip settles? I'm beginning to wonder if I've done the right thing now.

thanks

It should wear off.  Usually after having the vaccinations also it can be quite tender.

We were told after ours were chipped to avoid stroking the area surrounding where the chip had been inserted for a few days as it can be quite sensitive - rather like when humans have a jab some can bruise or have a bit of inflamation which causes discomfort but generally isn't any cause for concern :)
