None of mine have ever had a quarantine period after the second injection in over thirty years. My vet always said for them to walk out of the surgery that day. However, I think you should do what you feel comfortable with, and if that means following your vets advice, then thats what you should do.

I think it rather depends on where you live and the company your pup will keep. My vet is very laid back about the "quarantine" period and he reckons that 7 days is quite enough even in urban areas. However, knowing that I live in the middle of nowhere he also said he couldn't see any harm in my pup going straight out. So he did!

I think that if you have paid for your vet's advice and attention it implies that you value it and your dog's welfare and therefore it would be somewhat illogical not to follow it unless, like me for example, you disagree with it and choose to ignore it.
I put my dogs out on the floor prior to their vaccinations and do not have them jabbed until they have been with me for two weeks, but I would not encourage others to ignore their vet's advice; what I choose to do with my own dogs is my own affair and I choose to take informed risks based on my knowledge and experience.
Your vet is giving you his advice based on his.

It's a bit confusing when two vets at the same practice are not in agreement but perhaps one is more cautious than the other :) I do think you should follow the practices generally advise as they will be much more aware of the relative risks in their area, more than any individual owner can be, add to that the understanding of the relative importance to your particular breed to get socialising and you have the equation to work out what to do. Easy peasy ;)
I've always done it the week after, I would never walk out of the vets straight after the second vaccination and have never heard a vet say that before.

To be fair on my vet, he wouldn't tell everyone to take their dog out straight away. However, he knows us well and knew full well that "out" for the first 7 days would be in places where other dogs were highly unlikely to go, let alone unvaccinated dogs. Hence I didn't leave the vet's surgery with the pup on a lead and walk him to the car but the following day I did take him down our country lane in order to get him out in the fields where he could get some much needed running around! It all comes down to commonsense and trusting your particular vet's advice, that's what you pay them for after all, but I'm still not 100% that there's a deal of difference between 7 and 14 days in terms of effectiveness. However, there are people who will know the science of innoculations better than me so I'm prepared to be told differently.
