Any ideas on making a frozen stuffed kong (used kong filler, cheese and peanut butter on different occasions) last longer with my westie pup? He doesnt chew or chase the kong at all, just holds it between his paws and licks for England. Five minutes later it's cleaned out and he's bouncing around again wanting to play! Have to admit I give it to him about 10pm when I'm exhausted and want five mins to watch telly - sort of like giving baby a soother.
It's the smallest kong - should I get a bigger one or would that be too much 'junk food'? He loves his food and follows me to the kitchen every time looking for something, tho he gets the recommended amounts of Burns with a little Pegigree Puppy mixed in.
He's not overweight and very healthy if his energy levels are anything to go by - he's a little over 4 months old. I also give him those rawhide shoes occasionally, but only when I'm watching him.
Any advice for first-time owner gratefully received. He also gets two little walks a day which he loves.
Thanks

If you're worried about the levels of 'junk' in his Kong, why not put his normal diet in there and freeze it? You could do several small ones and give him one at a time if you're around. I sometimes wonder if we are doing our dogs any favours by feeding them out of a bowl once or twice a day......
I feed my boys once in the morning out of their bowl and the rest of their food in given to them in kongs. I may have to fill them up 3/4/5 times but at least I know they are not wolfing it down and getting a bit of activity out of it too!
In fact the enjoy it more than me just putting a bowl down (alot more jumping!!!), and their teeth are really clean too!!!
