Just got off the phone to my sister in law who wanted help filling out her first dog schedule for manchester champ show where she wants to enter her staffie.
Dont get me wrong, he is a lovely dog BUT even though he is a KC staff he looks nothing like one :-(
I tried to tell her kindly that he is too big/heavy/not up to breed standard/ has a couple of tan patches on him / never been to ring craft (I even said I much prefer the look of yours but the judges wont like him )
She replied by telling me male staffs are supposed to be big - the bigger the better! & as he is an usuall tri-colour he will be noticed more!!!!!
Then she told me she has had staffies longer than me & I dont know what I am talking about :-( & put the phone down.
Sorry just had to vent - I am not an expert at all but I know it looks nothing like a staff.
If it gets placed above my dogs I will hang my head in shame now - lol

Well if the dog isn't good enough it won't get placed and simply you will have to just be nice about it and
don't say "I told you so" :D

Sometimes its actually better to stand back and let some people find out for themselves, especially family ;) ;) don't press your point as if the dog doesn't do well it'll likely be 'your fault' If it's any consolation, Staffy classes are usually well attended and any dog not up to standard won't get a look in ;) Just be nice, as has been suggested, and commiserate if she's not pleased with the result :) If the dog isn't trained for showing and she hasn't been to ringcraft it'll be a hard day for her unless he's unbelievably well behaved ;) may put her off repeating the experience ;)

she'll just have to find out the hard way then if she didn't want to listen to you (and you can think - to yourself "told you so"!!!!!).
like everyone has said let her find out the hard way, and then you will proberly look the more knowledgble one when it gets chucked out , but just think what she would be like if it got placed LOL

Yeah she'll just have to pay the 20 odd pound or whatever it is these days to find out that he's not a good example of the breed.

What's the betting she claims the judge is 'facey'? ;)
what class will she be entering in

She is entering in JD - I am not showing my dog only the girls.
She will say they are facey though when she does not get placed :-)
She only pd £150 for him as the breeder could not sell him, I would not sell her one of my pups as she works full time & she thought my asking price was too much.
I think thats why she is trying to prove that her dog is just as good for the price :-(
Shame he is a lovely dog & I hope she does not think less of him
keep us informed i am going on terrier day also plucked up the courage to go i am in english bull terriers in mpd, i am already nervous about it, then of course a so called friend of mine today said , well you never know if this snow turns up and stays around you may not get any way.
glad she is a friend .

Come over & say hello!!
I will most likely be the only one with a blue staffie & we are in LB. If there is more than 1 blue I also will have 6 kids with me & 2 black staff pups!
I have also been worried about the snow as I am going on the train from devon.
Good luck :-)
i am driving down from the north east and we have had some horrific forecasts for the next few days, will pop over and say hello.
