was just thinking about rescue centre's and home checks etc before they will place a dog with a family.
Do any breeders on this site home check when your pups are ready to leave or do you just go on instinct?

More often than not, a dog from a rescue centre goes to a local family - many breeders do not have locals wanting their puppies so it is impossible to home check as it would mean travelling all over the country.

Half of my only litter went 300 + miles away, but they were all home checked.  A breeder can always get trusted friends or experienced contacts through the breed club to do a home check :)  Obviously instinct and meeting prospective owners a couple of times before making that all important decision plays an important part in things too and usually many telephone conversations, exchanges of emails etc are ongoing throughout the period when the bitch is in whelp and the puppies being reared.
