I have 2 - 5 week old puppies 1 is fine the other has what seems to be swimmers. I have for the past week been trying to keep him propped on his side (as much as possible) been massages his legs and have made him a small polo cushion to keep the weight off his chest. Is there anything else I can do. I went to the vets today to see what help they could give. He had never heard of it and suggested that I had him destroyed. I said that was not the option, he said bring him back in a week if there was no difference he said it was only fair to have him put down. That will not happen he will walk and lead a normal life. Is there anymore updates on this problem I need all the help I can find.

Hi Julieand

Here are some links for you.

http://www.cockerspanielinformation.com/puppies/swimmer_puppy/  plenty to explore but not easy to access the info you need

http://www.craigmcfeely.force9.co.uk/Rameses/fck.html  about kittens but they suffer from the same condition and the explanation of how to help is very clear.

Hope this helps
