iv just bought a lovely westie 8 weeks old the breeder told me to put paper down and put it on after feeding and sleeping, any more tips out there?

Congratulations on your new puppy.

Unless you want to train her to wee in the house, I wouldn't use paper, but take her outside for a wee and poo.  Everytime she goes, praise her and say whatever word you want to use, so she will eventually go on command. 

Your breeder is correct in saying she will need to go as soon as she is fed and when she wakes up.  You will also need to put her out after any playtime.
