I have a 2 year cocker spaniel. She has always travelled in the car in a cage from being a puppy without trouble. Over the last few months she has developed some bad habits which distract while driving. Firstly she always barks when getting in the cage and when I am about to close the door. (its a hatchback). secondly while driving she whines and chews the cage itself, creating a lot of horrible slaver and a frothy mouth. She will also scratch vigourously the bottom of the cage. On motorways she settles down but at low speed around local roads she is becoming a nuisance.
Can you help?
At first I thought it was excitedness, now i think it could be nervousness... any suggestions

Hello,  try covering the cage it might be the movement  thats getting her going, she might relax if she cant see whats whizzing past.
