One of my Chihuahua girls is causing much concern & we don't really know how to help her. She has always been timid, increasingly so as the years pass (she's 8). Following this years fireworks, she won't go in the garden at all after dark & is frozen with fear if we insist (which we don't). Even a car door closing is enough to panic her. Until this year she's gone out, no trouble, at night.
She is asking to go out any time after 12:30 am, every night, presumably because by then she's desperate for a poo & it's quiet.
I am a poor sleeper, anyway, and find it difficult to go back once woken. Apart from a Dap diffusor, has anyone any views or experience of medication to calm her? She is very nervous but has no other anxiety problems (separation, for example).   Thank you.
