the vet is really confused as to the reason why Keisha is loosing wieght so fast-she has lost a kilogram in 8 days.  he has tested her for liver, kidney and pancreas and put her on enzyme replacement while waiting for the results.  the results cam back today and it has shown a low level of folic acid but everything else is fine, so now she has been taken off enzyme replacement and put on steroids-which I really do not like the thought of.  Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

Have just had a quick look at your earlier thread - sorry about Keisha's ongoing problems :(   Did your vet test pancreatic function and TLI test for EPI?  Did he test for hypothyroid, Cushing's, Addison's? (the only accurate test for Addison's is the ACTH test which requires the dog have blood drawn, tested, then injected with an adrenal stimulant and retested after a couple of hours)

There are a number of things which could be wrong and steroids are often given to countermand the symptoms but unfortunately have an effect on further tests as they can cause readings to be inaccurate.

If none of the above tests have been carried out I'd at least discuss the possibilities of them with your vet before Keisha is on the steroids for long (literally more than a few days).
