WHY???????????
Why do dogs like shredding tissues????
I can put anything in  the bin, and both my dogs will leave the bin alone. BUT if i put tissues in there they will gently take them out without knocking the bin over and shred them and eat them!!!!!
WHY????
And will it cause them any problems which i am sure it wont??? (Gemma has been doing this for 8 years and no problems yet!!!!)
Beano even goes into kids bedroom to check out the bins to make sure he hasnt missed any tissues!!!! ;)

My husky does that too! he gently lifts them out of the bin and sneaks off with them! he even creeps up or down stairs when he has got a tissue - one step at a time! it is so funny! he isnt too bad at shredding them - he just likes holding them! strange dog :)

Yes Beano manages to hide it in his mouth and thinks you havnt seen his 'strange' look on his face as well as the guilty eyes ;) LOL

Tell me about it! All my dogs do it, but murphy is absolutely awful. He knocks over every bin and eats every last bit. His poo is sometimes almost completely tissue based. As yet we've had no problems... fingers crossed.

LOL @ Lucyandmeg
I know that feeling. Pooh picking in the evening and you get white 'lumpy' poohs interspersed with normal poohs!!!!!!
Although better than Green/red/blue/yellow when Beano finds a wax crayon laying in the living room!!!!! LOL

the funniest dog poo i ever saw was when my old staffie had eaten a whole bag of christmas chocolate money coins which she had stolen form my room! All that was left was the little net bag that they had come in. The next morning her poo was all glittery with bits of gold and silver foil !!

My dog can't get to the bin but when you think she's just trying to get affectionate you discover that she's actually carefully pulling a tissue out of your pocket :D

I sometimes wonder whether there's some sort of chemical in tissues and bogroll that's designed to make dogs go loopy for them! It's bad enough watching Nipper's constant but not quite cunning enough attempts to get tissues out of the bin but I draw the line at his current preference - to sit in the bathroom while I go to the lav and then have the brass neck to try and compete with me for the bogroll. :)

Glad mine have not caught on to that one !  It is so embarrassing when they pop their heads into visitors handbags or pockets to "mug" them for tissues.

We had an Airedale who used to help himself to a tissue everytime he walked past the box :D , one of my other dogs frightened me to death when he ate some maroon table napkins - I thought he was haemorraghing (sp?) the next morning

My Labrador loves to shred any tissue he finds - he hasn't traced them to the source yet though. We had a German Shepherd that ate the lametta strands off the lower branches on the Christmas tree - his poo twinkled!

Me too, when our 2 boys were young we on several occasions thought 'hm, George has been quiet and peaceful for once' only to find he was peacefully pulling a box of tissues apart behind the sofa!! :-D

My yankee loves nothing more than to help himself to one of the spare toilet rolls (if someone has left the cupboard door open.. ) and amuse himself by shredding it to pieces.. The other 2 cockers will join in if they get a chance but oddly, my springer isn't interested at all! :)

Mine can't wait for the cardboard tube in the middle of the loo rolls, they stand waiting for tissue to be pulled off for the reward, but the tissue will do as well. :-)

Our dog is exactly the same, last week she did it and nicked a fiver out of my pocket without me noticing first thing I knew was when our youngest daughter came in and said "do you know Honey's chewing a five pound note"!!!  Her other habit is to pick them up off the pavement and try and hide them in her mouth while standing there looking all innocent.

Is it only used ones?  The ones with that delectable scent of snot on them?  That runny stuff that even small children transfer directly from nose to mouth?  Yuck.  Jet grew out of eating those and never did touch the unused ones.  Perhaps your dog will too, and a good strong lesson on "LEAVE IT"  with even yummier treats for reward will help.  Hard to find a yummier treat though.  LOL
