Im a little bit concerned this evening.  Daisy is 57 days today from 1st mating, she seems really lethargic, her vulva has almost doubled in size and she has refused her fresh mince tonight. I have taken her temp and it is 99.5.

At 57 days it says in The Book of The Bitch that the pups are viable but has anyone ever had pups born that early and were they ok?

i have arranged for her breeder to come down on Monday (day 61) for support as this is my first time and hers,as she lives a good 3 hrs away, but now i am panicking, any advice please.

Hi
Just thought I would let you know I have 2 litters at the minute, 1 is 5 weeks old and 1 is 3 weeks old, both born on day 58.

Don't worry. My friend breeds shar-pei and they are often born a few days early and are perfectly normal in every way. Also if she was mated on several days, make sure you're counting from the first day rather than the last.

Good luck and try to relax... and don't be surprised of you start pushing in sympathy when your girl is giving birth. ;)

my pups where just born 4 days early maybe you missed counted a day but also which is probably the reason she wont actually whelp for anoth day or two in which case the pups should be born ok and survive
