Titch - a Giant Schnauzer 12 mths -has developed  a terrible infection around her eyes and mouth.  Biopsies have shown a common bacteria but Titch is not responding to antibiotics. She is lethargic, not eating drinking - sleeping all the time.   Vet doesn't know what next - has anyone experienced this - please can you help

What is the bacteria and what is the effect on her?  Is it possible that it's an opportunist infection taking advantage of skin mites/fungal infection?  They can be devilishly hard to identify ;)

Have you cut the hair short?  This is one occasion when I think the shorter the better as the hair will allow the bacteria more places to breed.
