Hi, can anyone help, our 5mth old choc lab is loosing hair from underneath, legs and neck. He has come out in red sores on his legs and underarms and he seems to scratch a lot. He's  had dry skin since we got him so he,s been on gla capsules, he also has a small bald patch on his leg but thought nothing of it. We have just been treating him for mange with anti-biotics but been back to vets and its not that.We are having a skin scrape on wed but just wondering if anyone has experienced this. We are feeding him on chicken and rice beta food and wash stuff in organic podwer no conditioner.
Cheers Janice

Hi,

Sorry to see that you have had no replies regarding your problem, unfortunately I myself can not come up with any more than your vet has offered at present either. Hopefully the skin scrape will reveal what the problem is.  Once you have had mange, eczema, mites, fleas or dry skin confirmed and the treatment your vet has offered for the condition, post back to let the site know, then we can all offer help to anyone else with the same condition. (Looks as though none of us have been unlucky enough to have a pup with it.)

One thing I would advise is to try and stop your pup from licking his sore skin as this will just keep on opening the wound and stopping the hair from growing back. You need to take his mind off any itching.  Give him lots of chews to keep him occupied, he may need a beloved lampshade to give his fur time to grow back too.

Wishing your pup all the best, bless him!

Let us know what happens!

Don't suppose you use Shake'n'Vac or similar on your carpets, do you?
