At what age is it safe to have my Yorkie spayed?
She is 7 months old (i typed 5 months on another post by mistake - we've had her 5 months), she obviously hasnt had a season yet. But at my vets, one said after first season and another said before?!?
Im not sure what to do for the best as she is so small I dont want to risk losing her!
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you.

Im no expert (far from it) but dont they say let her have one season first before spaying.   Im having my male yorkie neutered on the 21st of this month and I dread it every day......  I wouldnt worry about her being little as they will use the right amount of drugs to put her under while they do the operation.

People have LOADS of experience on here and im sure they will give you some ideas.

It's really your decision! Personally, I'd let her have one season, by then she'll be physically & mentally more mature. Some say spay before 1st season to reduce the risk of mammary cancers later on, others (like me!) believe a bitch spayed early never really grows up. Do a search - you'll find plenty of information to help you make up your mind.

thanks for replying, i was a bit worried as the vet i usually see was all for waiting a season, but a "locum" said to spay before.
i will wait till she has had her first season.
thanks for helping!
