Thank you spellmaker! :D yes dougal is only 15 months old and he has an irish coat which is a bug*er cause it takes about two and a half years to mature, so BOB of breed for an imature coat isnt too bad! :D Thanks again

I went to DD in a grooming competition and got no-where!!!! :D  I think that makes me a bad groomer... LOL  Nevermind!

Well done Sarah.  Maisie got yet another open show BOB last weekend and it felt great.  Only our two dogs there so it became the father daughter challenge rather then the dogs! :D  I was handling Maisie so crownd myself the better handler!!!  didn't do anything in the group though and she moved a dream...nevermind!

We were at gundog breeds. we got best puppy, best dog and a third, daughter was 4th in handling and 6th in the ykc members stakes. A good day out. wish we could get cc's at that show.

I too would choose a dog show over shopping any time! This weekend I work, :-( , but we went last weekend,to an International Show, breed entry 85. My youngest girl (20 months) made second best bitch, with CC and Res-Cacib (in Sweden champions cant take the CC) beating some very good dogs, including four champions!  This was her first CC. I was so proud! And happy! I love to hear about when other people on this board share their experiences in the rings with the rest of us, so couldn't help sharing mine with you. :-)

I havent been at a show for ages and am having withdrawal symptoms.  My girly has her figure back now and will be back in the ring next month at open shows.  Missed the closing date for LKA :-(  Her daughters first show is in Feb  :-)

I had a lovely day on Sunday at the Border Collie Pup of the Year competition. This was my first time and it was a lovely morning. Unfortunately I got drawn against the oldest dog there in the first round but I was chuffed to bits. Bobby did me proud and lapped up the atmosphere. It was a good chance to have a good chat with people who have been really helpful over the last year giving me advice. A perfect end to what has been an enjoyable year and I've made some lovely friends along the way. To me the best thing about going to shows.

I have Large Munsterlanders. For some reason I keep coming up against munsters4ever  You don't think she lives near me, do you? ;) And yes, Nicky, I wish we would get CC's too here, but when we get so many not turning up I don't see how we will.

Well done to Erin.

I went to a club open show with my 2 Cavs and came back with 2 First rosettes!! I was specially thrilled with the puppy's first in Maiden, it's her first real First place, and she moved beautifully! (wouldn't stand still on the table though, little sod!) :-D
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 14.11.05 21:07 UTC
I know how you feel Lucy. Anyone who saw my Seska at Welks wouldn't have recognised her on Saturday. At Welks she decided it would be nice to go round the ring at eye level, on one leg ;) Talk about bouncy! On Saturday she behaved beautifully. She stood well, moved well and I was very happy to get a 2nd place with her. She has always been last at every show she went to. I'm sure that it was her season that has matured her enough to actually LISTEN to what I was saying :D Well done.

We went to a little open show on Saturday and got Puppy Group 4 then travelled straight down to Diane's ready for Mid Herts Gundog the next day, Beard Boy got BP, his aunty Yendah was BOB and aunty Lajka was RBOB and they also won the brace class from a good entry :)
So we all had a good weekend :D Well done to all!

Aw, was just wondering if you'd been at Scottish Gundogs :(   Had you been there you couldn't have failed to be impressed by the svelte, sophisticated, level headed and somewhat fetching professional taking  centre stage in the ring for Vizla, Brittany and IWDs  .....

......... whereas I was the harassed one in the chunky wool-knit juggling ring cards, rosettes and lip gloss during steward duties :P

- By Emily Rose [gb] Date 15.11.05 14:53 UTC
LOL, am gutted I missed that sight :D :D

I had been plainning to do Mid Herts for a while, as I was going to stay at the Beard Boys breeders house I didn't really fancy driving upto Edinburgh one day and down to Cambs the next...not one's idea of a relaxed weekend showing!!!!
- By Teri Date 16.11.05 01:41 UTC
Forgot to mention the high heeled boots  Deffo NOT a god idea when tottering about on hard standing for hours on end :D  Well, they say pride comes before a fall but fortunately the only thing to hit the deck was a clip board (wouldn't have coped if it had been the lip-gloss LOL)

Teri ;)

- By ClaireyS Date 15.11.05 16:01 UTC
we went to poole open show, got a 4th and a 5th, not too impressed to be honest should have done better even with Alf doing kangaroo hops all round the ring  but never mind, you win some you lose some.  He must have thought he was being punished though because after the show we stopped off in ringwood to have their ears tatooed, poor little Alf screamed his head off :(

Thanks Sharon - still living in the twilight zone - so fairly "normal" then (for me anyway ;) )

Regards, Teri

Me and my OES boy went to a club show and he got 1st in Junior and 1st in Novice - I'm one dead chuffed mum!
- By Teri Date 16.11.05 01:45 UTC
Hi Nelson,

WELL DONE! Club show wins are always a bit special - quite right to be chuffed.  Regards, Teri ;)

Took Molly to the JW gazzette competiton and bombed.  Choice of two judges and I get the one who is facey! Although I hasten to add I was not expecting to get any further the other judge does love my dog.

On Sunday took new puppy to club and bombed got beaten by a cartoon dog.  All in all totally crap weekend but I am sure things can only get better :)
- By kayc [gb] Date 16.11.05 09:35 UTC
lol, you couldnt possibly have done any worse than me. Our small open show was on Sunday, Tia and Ellie entered, last year Tia took 1st open, BOB and best black. This year she got herself kicked out of grad and 4th behind Ellie in open......there were only 4 in the class....Still its good fun :D :D
- By ice_queen Date 16.11.05 13:51 UTC
TTS which judge did you get?  Not sure which one was ment to be facey! :D
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 16.11.05 19:44 UTC
I'll give you a clue it wasnt Stuart Mallard ;)
- By ice_queen Date 16.11.05 23:28 UTC
Ahhh! :D LOL just Joe (brother) was handling an Irish Terrier! :D  Wasn't sure who was the facey one because it couldn't of been Stuart Mallard who put the Irish Terrier though!!! (Did I mention Bro now think's his bee's knee's at handling!!!! LOL

Hi Everybody
We went to Mid Herts Gundog last weekend, Came second in Open and Reserve Best of Breed out of 3. It was a right hoot,as my little Brittany went Best in Show at the Brittany Club Champ.show in October.
The steward on Sunday, said she'd love to be there when the judge read his catalogue. He came over after he had finished judging and said it was the first time he had judged Brittanies BUT that he had read the standard the night before. You learn something new everyday.
One consolation, the dog who won was my girls nephew.
