Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / puppy growling and barking at daughter

We have a 10 week old Border terrier puppy who is wonderful, she is very affectionate with my husband, me and our 8 year old daughter. The problem is with our other daughter who is 6, our puppy keeps barking at her and playing a bit rough, biting her feet and hands, but its only with her she does this.I have told her to make a loud noise like ouchhh and then to ignore her but so far no good. Can anyone offer any advice that would help. Our daughter loves her but  is becoming a little nervous around her now, as she always seems aggressive. Please help!!!

Please read this article. I'm sure you'll find it very helpful. Probably your younger daughter has a higher-pitched voice, and moves more erratically, than the rest of you. Puppies usually find this irresistible and can't stop themselves pouncing. The calmer your daughter can behave around the puppy (more easily said than done, I know!), the sooner the puppy will get through this stage.

We had this problem with our staffie pups & one of our children, they were fine with the rest of us but he used to squeal & flap his arms around !!!  They thought it was a great game.

We got him to stand still, cross his arms & ignore them, not even look at them.

It only took a couple a days before they lost intrest.

Good luck
