Bailey has been sick three times over the past few days, he's not bringing up his food it's a yellowish clear liquid. He seems fine and is eating and playing well. I am concerned because in the sick the first couple of times were strands from his blanket (which I've taken off him now). The problem is he doesn't just chew things, he seems to eat what he's chewed too. Should I take him to the vet? I'd be grateful for any advice.

Hi, to be on the safe side I would take him to your vets, I know you say that he is playing and eating well, but what do your instincts tell you?
The reason that I ask is because I have 5 dogs (was 6 until this year) and one of my bitches was a stickler for eating things, she would eat anything, we had to make sure that socks, tissues, underpants etc, were nowhere that she could get hold of. She is now no longer allowed a free run of the house because of this habit, but over the years I have learnt to spot the signs, number one, she would sick up bile, number two, even though she ate, and walked, ran as normal, when sat down, she to me, just looked not well, can't explain it, you just know? No-one else but me could tell, I guess it is an instinct. She would then eventually be sick or go to the toilet excreating a pair of underpants or a sock. One day she went to the toilet and had something hanging from her back end which on very careful removal turned out to be 30" of lead lead. God knows how she was not ruptured, but luckily she was not. She is now 14 and luckily never suffered any complications from her first 3 years of scoffing anything going.
It may be absolutely nothing, use your instincts if you feel uneasy take him to be checked out, most things will pass through your dog with no trouble, but sometimes a bowl can be torn and complications can happen. But a dog being sick can be for many reasons and will usually clear up quickly, as I said use your instincts, if you are worried take him for a check up.

quite rightly I agree go with your instincts.
I had a dog who brought up bile for a long time before we found out what was causing it.
turned out to be an empty stomach which is why I suggested it to the poster.

If you put in a search (top right hand corner) for yellow bile lots of replies will come up from when the question has been asked before.

Hi,
I agree with Lyssa, my boy is always on the look out for *something to eat* but usually this is something that isn't suitable! He once had eaten 2 socks without me knowing (had got them out the dirty laundry basket) he is a big pup! everything was normal as in eating, playing, walking etc and he was reaching alot, not necessarily bringing up anything, but when he did it was bile. Then the next day ( when I had made a vet appt) he promptly threw up 2 of my husbands socks. (Husband has rather large feet!) So his socks wouldn't pass through. But after this episode, he looked a bit thinner around his tum! so just be prepared.
