my 7 week old pup is going for her first vacc next tuesday and i will mention it to the vets then.
she was said to of been wormed by the breeder however she looked quite thin ti me and so i wormed her with my panacur that i always use on the pups and kittens. and althoiugh she hasnt expelled any worms, she is lookign a lot better.

however she has taken to rugging her bum bum hole on the floor now and then. now i know it may be a sign of the hook worm?

and the panicur should cover that. but i was wondering if anyoen else had any odea on what else would make a dog do this.

Best get your vet to show you how.

i was taught how to drain the anal sacks when i worked at the vets. however my pups seem to be empty.

I can do it on my Yankee, but when I do the same thing on my Cav, sometimes I get a bit out, but he screams! Mind you, he screams when the vet does it, and when the vet gives him his annual injections, so perhaps he's just a coward!! :-)

Puppies sometimes do this if they have a bit of dried poo sticking to their bums.  It could be anything.  Try a gentle wash with a warm wet flannel and Hibiscrub or something similar.  By the way I am glad to see things are getting better since the second pup came along.  I take my hat off to you doing all that double training.  I am worn out training one pup and looking after the big ones.  Keep up the good work.

Wolfwoman, to be sure I would worm the pup with Drontal +, as this covers a wider variety of worms than Panacur.  Scooting the bum can be a sign of worms (can also be impacted anal glands and other things, but rule out wormies first.)

thanks for the advice. she dose seem to have stopped doing it now. im wondering if it tied in with her beeing a little loose after the worming and so her anal glands had filled slightly. and now her poop has fimed again they have drained.

she if off to the vets on tues for her first vacc and a health check so i will mention it then and if the vet feels she needs a diffrent wormer i will mention the drontal +. i have to admit that was what we used when i worked in the vets.
