Are there many classes that hold YKC Showing?

What shows hold YKC Showing? Is there classes for YKC Showing?

I am thinking about being a member of the YKC. How much is this and is joining up worth it?

I am really interested in doing the handling and showing. Are these two different?

I have also read about a points book, what is this for?

Everything explain on the YKC website (part of the KC website)

Handling and showing different thing

If you join you can access the information to which shows put on YKC stakes and YKC handling.

Yes it's worth it.  For £10 you get free entry into crufts and discover dogs aswell as getting to enter the competitions.

If you want anymore detail you can e-mail me at roxanne@roanjora.co.uk  I'm same age as you and have been a member since I was 8 (earliest age you could be when it was KCJO!) :)

Another YKC member here

I would say its worth joining - even if only for the Crufts and Discover Dogs entry! all for a £10 membership

YKC showing and Handling is different - showing based on the conformation of the dog, whilst handling should be on how the handler shows the dog (hence cross breeds being able to enter handling at some events)

YKC showing classes are help at many of the Champ shows during the year (about 13/14 shows I think) - which enable someone to qualify for a final at Crufts, some open shows also schedule the classes

Points books are so as you can collect points for your placings in showing or handling (different books for each) and once you have so many points you can send away for a badge, and 10 badges qualifies for a mater to display on your membership badge - as I think they are still doing them.

As you would be a senior member you would then also have access to Outward bound courses - although for the pleasure of attending you are expected to give some time back to the YKC by helping at events, - so far this year I have helped at the National Camp, been asked to help at Discover Dogs, and also hopefully doing Crufts next year, as well as helping out at smaller events during the year.

Good luck at crufts Sam!  Will watch out for you in the agility.  What dog have you got?  I would love to have ago at agility however time doesn't allow unfortantly.  If I'm lucky I can compete in the YKC senior handling but only 20 places and must be loads of people applying!  If I don't get a place in that then I won't be competiting in YKC this year unless I do something silly at the grooming competition tomorrow!!! LOL  shame really but at least I can then concentrate on the dogs I'm handling for people! :D

I'm the same as you in age...nealy 18
