Topic Dog Boards / Health / lumps on legs
- By rach1 Date 10.11.05 15:10 UTC
Hi all

Have just noticed that both my pups (dobe & rottie) have got lumps on their back legs just below the hocks. They feel hard and neither pup is bothered when I prod them. Am I just being an idiot and worrying about a completely normal part of my dogs legs, or do you think I should be concerned?

Thanks
Rach

Might be wrong but do you think they could be pressure sores. My goldies even get them and on their hocks and elbows. Its with lying on the tiles in the kitchen and in their kennels, even though they have vet bed! And some dogs especially smooth coats, like yours, get them when on carpet! hope this puts your mind at ease

Hi FBee

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't thought of pressure sores, that would make sense though. Will keep an eye on them, and see how we go.

where do you take them for walks.  Could it be nettle stings?  My staff is constantly covered in lumps up her legs from running through patches of stingy nettles

Hi cheekychow
Thanks for your reply. They are only 13 & 15 weeks old. The dobe hasn't been out for a walk yet (can go tomorrow!!), and the rottie has been to the park a few times but on the lead and nowhere near nettles. So don't think it could be this. Looking at where the lumps are, pressure sores seem the most likely.
Thanks both of you for your replies
Rachael
