I have a beautiful tri coloured border collie bitch, who is the nicest dog I have ever come across! (I may be biased) She is three years old, and I would like to find her a husband. She has a good show/agility/obidence pedigree although we havent competed with her ourselves I'm sure she would excel as she is quick to learn and intelligent. We have a small farm and she helps us with that, she is my children's confidont, nurse, best friend. As she is such a lovely natured and beautiful dog I would like to breed from her, but need to find and equally kind/beautiful husband! I realise this message board is perhaps intended for serious competition purposes but wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I am also going to contact her breeder to see if she can help, although they have moved further away and I was hoping to speak to someone in my area (Milton Keynes/Leighton Buzzard), although I don't mind travelling within reason the car is not Bellas favoriate place.
Many thanks for your help.

I suggest you contact your breeder, if your breeder is a member of the breed club.
You don't mention whether or not she is KC registered, but going by the name of this post I assume she is?
You can't really claim qualities which your dog has not proved herself to have - you cannot claim things like "I'm sure she would excel", because the fact is that anyone with any dog could say that. So that claim counts for nothing. If you want to breed, what most responsible breeders do is try to compete with their dogs in various areas - usually showing.
You need to get someone who is knowledgeable in the breed to take a look at your dog and see if she is worth breeding from. YOu as her owner may very well be biassed and not see her faults, physical or otherwise. The best way to do this is to enter some shows - open shows or champ shows. There you will meet many people from the breed who would be only too happy to go over your dog before or after you go in the ring and to tell you what they think.

Plus she needs to be hip scored under the breed median(cost upwards of £100), eye tested clear for PRA(cost around £30) & DNA tested for CL & CEA(cost around £150) first then you can think about breeding from her to a dog that has had the same health tests done. So you will need to spend around £300 before you start looking for a stud dog. No respsoinsible stud dog owner would allow you to use their dog without her having them done
Cheaper to buy a related puppy when you add on the stud fee & risk to the bitch
Yes, forgot to mention that - Moonmaiden's right, she would also need all the health checks done and passed.

Being a nurse and seeing that the NHS is crying out for staff, you may find a husband through these means!
Such intelligence, skills and knowledge are in short supply at the moment ;)
