I have a female Springer she is 2 years now and whilst looking for her normal complete dry dog food, I found there wasn't any whilst looking for a substitue I came across Gusto a vat free working dog food 17kg for just £4.99. I normally pay £8 just for 3kg of her normal food. I also feed her fresh chicken so thought what the hec I'll get a bag for now as it was so cheap.
On opening it and giving it to her, I found that she loves it, she has eaten the whole lot now and is the same weight, lively, lovely coat still and seems to be sprinting even faster than usual.
Now I'm thinking should I stick to this food, it is so cheap though so is it good for her, why is it so cheap, I'm one of these people who thinks that you get what you pay for. Is it too good to be true? Can I feed it long term or would you experts recommend occasional use. Don't want to stock up on it, if it is not a good long term food. Help!

Hi Guest
I have 9 dogs, 8 of which are fed on Gusto. (I use all 3 varieties: Puppy, Adult and Mature.) I have young ones, adults and oldies, large and small, some are shown and bred and do obedience, some less active, and all are absolutely fine. :) I've fed Gusto for 2 years and am very happy with it.

ive seen gusto ,but ive never tried it isnt it made by the same people as aurtarky?
Yes, it's made by the same people. I have changed mine over to Gusto, along with raw tripe, minced chicken, chicken wings..... They have never looked so good! If they can produce good food at a cheap price, why can't other companies? ;)
My staffords have gusto and they love it also, Harder stools. and such lovely coats, The more you order the cheaper it is me and my mum share an order.
my rottie used to be a picky so and so, but for the last 3 years he has been on the gusto, my collies are on it and they love it there noses are in the sack as i am taking the top off.

I think it might be 15kg. I currently pay £12 for Autarky 15kg and I think the bags of Gusto are the same size. I can't imagine paying £40 for the same amount of food! That's a personal thing and more to do with my budget than any type of disaproval of those of you who feed more expensive foods!

The bags of Gusto in Tesco are 10kg for £4.99, made by the same company that makes Autarky. It's at least as good as any of the well advertised ones on TV ;) and doesn't have the colourings, sugars etc. It's quite a simple food :)

Yes Adult and Mature is 10 kg but Puppy is 7.5 kg. I buy wholesale and so only pay £3.29 a bag. :D

They used to but it hasn't worked since the company was bought by another ;)
Autarky
I toddled off to Tesco's to see if I could get a bag of Gusto to try. At that price I was willing to travel the 10 miles to my nearest Tesco. They didn't have any and don't stock it. Does anyone know where else I might find it ?

I have asked my mum to nip to Tesco's as she is going to docs this afternoon, to see if they stock Gusto (fingers crossed as its one of those huge new stores), hoping so as I need to get Coco some dog food tomorrow and I would rather pay £4.99 for a large bag of good dog food than £6.19 for a 2kg bag of what she is on at the moment.
Tescos Extra is the only place I have seen it.

Yea, I called into tesco extra myself and spoke to woman at customer services, and she said that "yes" they do stock it in the store and that they were expecting a delivery today, so I am going to nip back tomorrow and see if I can get myself a bag, to try Coco on.
Our local Jolleyes pet store stock gusto...
My local pet shop stocks it, but I usually buy mine in Tesco's in Forfar. The Tesco's in Montrose doesn't have though :( I prefer the Montrose store, too. It has clothes in it ;) Forfar doesn't.
