I have recently got a mini long-haired daschund called Mouse and i'll soon be able to start walking him. Would i be better walking him on a harness as he is so small and i don't want to risk hurting him? He is the first small breed of dog i've ever owned and i want to do the best for him. Many thanks

It is best to start walking them on whatever type of lead you wish to keep him on. Please bear in mind that by law he should wear a collar with a tag with your details on it whenever he is out so he needs to get used to a collar in any event. They are very tiny aren't they! so you would be hard pushed to find either a collar or a harness to fit him unless someone knows better!

Aww...a baby Dachie...there soo sweet arent they....its making me broody:)
I used a small nylon coller and long lead from Pets at Home. Please remember your Dog Tag you do need it.

ive got a mini dacs pup who will soon be able to go out, were going to be using a coller and lead like i always have done with my older dacs. i was looking on ebay and they sell some rearly small collers that are ment for ferrets or rearly small dogs. thats wat im going to be getting any way.
it might be an idea befor you take him out put the lead on him in the house or in your garden just so he gets used to the feel of the lead and coller.
enjoy him they grow so fast! :)

My vet stocks the tiny collars too.
