Legally, you can't do anything - you sold him to her!

If she's with him in the car most of the day and he gets exercise before and after the working day, then I'm not sure why you're so worried?

At least she's not leaving him home alone all day! He has more company than a lot of dogs.

sometimes a situation like this can be preferable.  Many years ago I used to take three dogs into work with me, one always came into the office and the other 2 slept in the car. I could see them from my office window.  morning break they were out for a quick pee and run around, lunchtime - a good walk, mid afternoon another quick runaround, and a good walk before arriving home.  What did they do in the car??  Exactly the same as they would have done at home...Sleep.  It is not in everyones best interests to do this, only when circumstances are safe, ie: you can see the car and dog from a window.  I found this much more pleasant and safer for my dogs than being left at home from 8.30 - 6.30

My only concern would be what would happen in the warm weather.  I once had a puppy enquiry for a chap that intended to take the dog "on the road" with him which on the face of it seemed a very nice life but he really wasn't able to give me a satisfactory plan of what he was going to do when it was not safe to leave the dog in the car due to warmer weather so I refused him.  Perhaps you could discuss this aspect with her but as the dog is now approaching 2 presumably she has gone through at least one summer with him without problems.

FWIW I have two dogs and I work full time and in fact travel all over the country, the dogs go with me wherever I go and my pup has done this since 7 weeks old and has now travelled over 25,000 miles this year.

He is incredibly well socialised with people, dogs and will eat, eliminate, play, walk, train any time, any place anywhere.  They both get lots of training and walks so personally I do not see the problem.

When it was very hot this year my dogs remained in the car with cage fans, packed in ice practically with ice blankets on the top of their car cages and the whole car was parked in the shade and covered in reflective sheets.

The temperature in the car was lower than the outside!

My dogs are now 9 months old and 5 and seem to perfectly happy, well trained and content.

There are very many lifestyles, just because they do not fit the "norm"/"ideal" does not mean they are any less acceptable.

I bet my dogs get more training, attention, walks, exercise etc than a some who live with "at home" owners!
