I have been lovingly training my pup - he's wonderful - can do sit, down, stay, wait all absolutely perfect (and he's only 6 months!!)....  I felt extremely proud going to puppy classes.

The only trouble is I've been teaching him to do all of this whilst he's been sat in front of me...........

Doh!

I've now got to re-train him so that he does all this whilst being beside me!

Luckily enough I think he's figured out that I got it totally wrong!!  LOL

no you havent done it wrong at all! youve taught him all the postions which is great (& actually i train all of mine in front but not for the stays  )
if your club wants you to do them from the side it will be really easy to change.

first get him into the position as normal then whilst still in position, move to the side, praise, touch "oh what a good sit/down" & titbit then realease from side.
then try this one leg by his side & the other sort of in front ,ask him for the position,if he looks unsure just swizzle your weight onto the leg infront & reask, then swizzle back.
but he will do it in no time.

then try to do it ffrom the side,he will do it in no time. you wont have to reteach it all,he knows it,you just have to is explain that its now abit different.this is no different than moving any exercise on.

keep me informed,i bet he will do it no problem.

& very well done on training your pup!
