I am picking up my boxer baby next week and well aware of what will become of my house!!!!!
( i rang a dog trainer the other day enquiring about puppy classes and obedience
training and he asked if i had a self destruct button!)
I am very well prepared to have things chewed but somebody mentioned ther is a
spray called bitter spray you can spray onto some things that you really
would rather was not chewed.
Is it Safe for the dog ? (and furniture) and does it work?!
Thanks
Ali

It's actually called Bitter Apple spray - for some it works for others it's a waste of time. It does not harm the dog nor your furniture - didn;t work for mine tho - only time and perseverance worked.
I know some have used things like chilli or pepper sauce!!!!

I have been told that the best thing to get is some very very cheap perfume, put some on a tissue and then place in the dogs mouth (though only for a second ) this way he associates the smell with the taste and then when you put it on the furniture he won't touch it. I personnally suggest having lots of different toys to chew - hard rubber, soft and some fluffy toys - so that he doesn't think about the furniture in the first place: it worked with my girl, and they are notorious chewers!

I think you are referring to "Bitter Spray" It's made by Leo Laboratories. It’s very good for licking and chewing and is also safe for use on open wounds. Its one fault is that it is only available from vets. I always keep some around for cuts and scrapes. I would try a spot an your best furniture in a place which doesn’t show before I squirted too much around though!!!
