hello   can some one tell me why when I  am  on the computer It   disconects  me  It says my time is up  I have tesco anytime

is that a dial up or broadband package?
If its dial up then most dial up connections will disconnect you every 2 hours so you then have to redial up again and some isps say you have to have a time out of 15 minutes before reconnecting although not all reinforce this.

HTH :)

broadband is better as in you can use the phone at the same time as being online, evrything loads faster and if you get an unlimited connection package you can be online 24/7 but it does cost more than dialup, cost depending on how fast you want the connection.
If all you use your connection for is surfing the net, checking emails and chat then basic broadband (512kbps) is plenty good enough and you can get it for less than £20 unlimited use.
If you want to use your connection for downloading etc then depending on how much you want to pay a month and whether or not your phone line can handle it, basically the faster the better.

Have a look at http://www.ukonline.net/broadband/comparisononnet.php these are one of the few isps left that do offer truely unlimited connection.

Steer well clear of homecall and tiscali, particularly if you want to download, they frequently limit your speed and don't like admitting to it

HTH and feel free to pm me if needs be :)

Don't know whether there's a problem but I['m back to using my old sign-up.  I did have Tesco's but haven't been able to get on it for about 4 weeks.  I'm just hoping that I haven't got hundreds of e-mails!

Ooh I didn't know that voors. I'm on homecall broadband, though admittedly I don't do many downloads, things have always moved a lot faster than when I was on dial up with BT.

yeah homecall are resellers of tiscali products, and although they advertise as 'unlimited' with no monthly limits they have a 'fair usage policy' which if you dont look for it you don't know about it. This says that if you use more than 30gig a month up AND down (bearing in mind every web page you open is counted as downloading a certain amount) they have the right to cancel your contract. What they actually do is limit your speeds to the same as dial up and when you ring them to find out what the problem is they'll tell you that you have spyware thats slowing you down and you need to download adaware (which is well known for actually installing spyware etc on your system) or they'll tell you to remove everything from startup and that should speed you up

I'm talking from experience as I was with tiscali for 12 months and wanted to kill someone by the time I could escape them as I was basically paying £25 a month for dial up, and OH's mum and dad are with homecall and when they started having problems with the internet running slow alarm bells rang. After checking here found out they're the same ppl and it all made sense.

If you don't use it too much you wont have a problem, it just depends what you want your connection for :)
