Ive just found out that my dog has hip dysplasia and was just wondering what advice anyone has on the subject its been a real shock and i found it really devastating is it as bad as i think how do you cope with it any advice would be much appreciated thanks angela
One of my dogs has VERY severe HD (score 48/48) and he has coped extremely well on Glucosamine with Chondroitin. I buy it from health food shops (even cheaper on the internet) and use capsules so I just open them and sprinkle the powder over his food.(He gets 2 a day and he is a large Golden Retriever, 40 kgs). It has helped a LOT.
Hi. I have a 4yr old Bullmastiff who has slight HD in one hip. She was diagnosed around 13 mths, and it is very upseting. I was devastated, but things havent been as bad as i thought they wud. [touch wood] My girls nine stone so diet is important, keep those extra pounds off yr dog!! I found that the above mentioned tablets have helped my dog but another good one is 'joint health' its a pure herbal tincture which helps to maintain flexiable & supple joints. And it has a 100% effective gaurantee. I found this more beneficial for my dog.
I have 1 (GSD) with HD, diagnosed a few months after we got her from breed rescue at 2 year old.
She's on Glucosamine & Chondroitin, fish body oil, kept slim, and has hydrotherapy once a week. She's now 9, doing very well, and has not needed any medication - so far.....
