Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Six month old puppies weight guide?
- By Guest [gb] Date 03.11.05 12:06 UTC
My parents have two six month old puppies (male).  They are feeding them twice a day a mixture of puppy food and dry food.  They are following the guide on the food for the quantity to feed but are concerned they look a little on the thin side?  Is there a guide for the 'ideal' weight of six month old pups and what sort of quantities of food should they be eating?

The ideal weight is that which gives yu a dog that is lean and fit with a LIGHT covering of flesh over the bones.  You should easily feel the ribs but only see the lst one or two in a short coated dog, and the same with the spine.

Dogs of the sme breed and age can vary in the ideal weight for them depending on their size adn build,a dn dogs of the same weight and build can need differing amounts of food to stay that wy depending on metabolism and excersise.

Most dogs are too fat, so your slightly lean dogs may not be so at all, just healthy and probably gawky and immature as they should be at this age.

Depending on the breed and size of the parents alters from dog to dog. When my dogs were puppies I fed them twice a day.
