I would agree with Jo, contact Mrs Shirley Johnson of the Flatcoated Retriever Society. It is the best way to find a flatcoat puppy, from a reputable breeder. Even if you do not buy a puppy through Mrs Johnson, do make sure the person you are buying from is a member of the Flatcoated Retriever Society, as there are some people breeding for profit and not for the good of the breed, or potential new owner.
You might also like to consider joining http://groups.yahoo.com/group/flatcoats/ To Join send an email to flatcoats@yahoogroups.com Many very exprienced breeders and owners of flatcoats gather to help new owners and discuss breed issues.
If you have never owned a flatcoat previously you might also consider meeting some before actually getting one. They are not as calm as labradors or golden retrievers. If you wish to receive a sheet giving you more advice about the breed, please email me and I will send you a letter I issue to new owners when I sell a puppy. Many people have found it very helpful.
