hello all

im a little worried about tara, her pups are now 8.5 weeks and we only have 1 boy left her now that will be leaving this weekend.  but i am a little worried about tara.  she looks like a potbelly pig, she has been wormed every time the pups were wormed, she is eating and drinking but not over the top with the drinking she is also going to the loo ok i am keeping an eye on her as i am a little worried about pyo she has no bleeding.  if you had not know she had her pups u would think she was about 6 weeks

If Tara had closed cervix pyo she would be very thirsty and would likely not want to eat. She would be depressed and not herself... you would know. Closed cervix pyometra is a lifethreatening condition and the dog goes downhill very quickly. Open cervix pyometra sometimes has no symptoms at all other than a foul smelling bloody (tomato soup) discharge. Both conditions require immediate veterinary treatment as even an open cervix pyometra can turn into a lifethreatening closed cervix pyometra without warning.

Regardless of what it is your dog should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. It could be something that can be easily treated now but may become much worse if it is left. Good luck.
