Hello. just wondered how long is normal for a 4 year old dog to sleep within 24 hours? My dog is quite active during her waking i.e playing with toys sniffing around the garden eating & drinking, daily walks taking about 3 hours on average. Lately she has been napping (daytime) longer & sounder. This is a respite for me but I wondered if this sleep pattern was normal?

Dogs are supposed to sleep on average, 18 hours out of a 24 hour day. Amazing to know they get that much sleep. It's completely normal. I've got two pedigree huskies and they spend most of the day sleeping and it's hardly an inactive breed!

I wouldn't worry, she's probably just catching up on some needed sleep!

If there's nothing interesting going on, a dog will sleep. Wish I could do the same :D
