Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Want a Collie Dog (Lassie) puppy!
- By Guest [gb] Date 26.10.05 10:47 UTC
We are looking for a young "lassie" type puppy for a good home in Bingley. We have our own garden, good local walks and are wanting a young dog to take in, home and finish training.
We have already 1 cat so would prefer an animal used to being around other animals or of good nature.
Please contact us with any breeders local to Bradford/Leeds area on: 07967 126370 or lucy.cockshott@office-angels.com

The breed you are reffering to is a Rough Collie. As you didn't know the name may I suggest you contact their society and read up on this breed before making any decisions.

And please Guest, when you contact a breeder, give them as much detail about your family and lifestyle as you can.  A reputable breeder will be looking for good homes for their pups, not just someone who is willing to hand over the money! ;)
An enquiry like I had this morning, may not get a favourable reply! :(
"where is your location in the uk? Have you any puppies due or are you planning any in the future?"

Did they want you to post it, Val?

Hang on a minute. I thought Rough Collies were clever?? Lassie always managed to get where she wanted without help. ;)

I'm normally very proper and correct M and I pride myself on my good manners, but I didn't think that one even meritted a reply! :(

They are Megan and mine told me that they didn't want one of their puppies to go and live there!! ;)

Sorry Lucy, we're being very unconstructive here!  Wasn't aimed at you, I just had a 'foot stamping' I want a puppy moment. :D

Have you had a look at www.collienet.com?  There are normally puppies listed on there and you may find something in the right region.  When you speak to breeders about a Rough Collie puppy, please ask for eye status of puppies and adults.  A mildly affected puppy will not be an issue as a pet, but you need to make sure the puppy isn't seriously affected.  If you are told that a breeder doesn't test because they don't have any problems, walk away.

Feel free to post here if you have any other questions, Val and I will do our best to help.

Yes Lucy. I agree with M.  It doesn't matter if your puppy is not clear for CEA but it IS important that the pup is tested by an Opthalmologist, who will give a certificate for you to see.
