Well, I went to pick Fagan up today after his op and the vet said "you have a very odd dog" and I said "well I know that :p" and he said "we couldnt find his other test*cle"  He said he had never come accross it before but it is very possible that he never developed it

Poor Fagan, he is in so much pain, the had him open rumaging about for 25 minutes :(

Good Lord, how strange.

Poor boy, all that for nothing.

He truly deserves a special treat for going through that for no reason.

He has some chicken cooling on top of the cooker but he is sound asleep so I wouldnt like to disturb him :(

The vet said he has come various strange things, such as a dog with only one kidney, and a cat with half a uterus ...

Which means he is that very rare thing a true monorchid as opposed to a unilateral cryptorchid monorchid

Bless him poor lad

Big hugs to Fagan the poor wee man. I think he deserves avery special treat for being such a good lad. Strange that he only developed one though, It makes you wonder why that happened

Hope he gets better soon Claire

Well ive spoken to his breeder and she is as  baffled as me, there was one other in the litter who only had one and she is going to find out whether his was found or not :(

He is still sleeping ...........

The theory with humans is when the foetus is at the  both male & female stage it(the foetus is an it at this stage)receives too much female hormone(can't remember which one)& of the testes fails to develop(I know a guy who is like this !)

you mean to say fagan is a gender bender  (is that what they call them  )

so I wonder if this is hereditry or if my little Fagey is a freak :(
- By Stacey [gb] Date 28.10.05 07:52 UTC
Claire,

It may be heriditary, but your dog is not a "gender bender."   A dog with one testical is fully capable of all the "duties" required of a dog sporting a full set.

yes I know, I was joking about the gender bender, this is why the vet wanted to castrate him completely because he didnt want him mating and passing on his "bad" genes - fortunately I persuaded him I was a good enough owner not to let him get to a bitch :)
