My german shorthair pointer licks everything, and i dont mean just licking! He will sit for hours with his tounge out of his mouth on the wall and not even produce any saliva i dont understand, and he also does this with the pavement could anybody give me advice

Hi,  I can't help you there but i know my bullmastiff does that to, she licks constantly and tries to suck your skin off in the process, yuck.  I know horses do it for salt but i really dont have a clue why dogs do it.
