Merlin had a really busy day today, he went on his usual walk and then went to a freinds house where he played with her dog for quite a while. He has been fine all day then this evening when i tried to take him into the garden for his last pee he could hardly move. He seems to be struggling with his back end. I bent down and rubbed them which didnt cause any pain, then lifted them one at a time checking his paws and he struggled to stay standing. I got him onto hi bed and he sat up shaking for a while. One of his front paws was a bit tangled in his bedding so i lifted it and he yelped. He must be putting all his weight on his front paws as when he did lay down i checked both of them and he didnt cry out. A few weeks ago he had a fall and bruised his back end and i am wondering if this is a relapse as he played too long today. I am not sure though as he walked better a when he had his fall, he limped a lot but his posture was normal. This occurence his back is very arched and he is squeaking more. As you can tell i am extremely worried and am taking him to the vets first thing in the morning, i am just hoping that someone is up and can offer some support before i bite my nails down to my arm pits. I hate it when he is ill, he cant tell me what is hurting and i am worried sick it is his back.

He was fine when i got up this morning, so rather than take him to the vets i phoned them. They said if it reoccurs to take him down but as he had no symptons today there was no need unless i was really worried. He was climbing the back of the sofa while i was on the phone to them. I panic so much when he is poorly. Also a bloke that knows everything about dogs in the whole world told me that beagles are prone to have problems with the discs in their back, so i am wondering now wether to get the tests done for this or did he just strain himself as he overdid it yesterday? I will probably phone his breeder tomorrow for a bit of a chat and see what she says. He is only 9 months old and we worked it out that in total with the playing and the walk he was constantly raging around for about 3 hours which is way too much for a pup of his age. He gets really over excited and just wont calm down sometimes, when he is like it at home i put him in the crate for a nap but we were at a freinds yesterday. He has rested well today and i dont know if i should only take him on short walks for a while. Fingers crossed that it is just my usual panic about nothing.

I had something similar with my Border/Beardie X when he came to his first weekend agility show at 7 months. More walking and running about with other dogs than usual and he was very stiff the next day. He was fine but it made me think more about how much he did at weekend shows.
