My tricolour boy has got a sore eyein the outside corner. It looks like maybe a tear stain but is quite red. I think it may have been either a flea irritation
(which we have now rid) or he has stratched himself too hard.
Any suggestions on what I can put on it as a first resort as I know a trip to
the vets will mean at the very least an injection and cream and several return visits which he hates, but obviously we will go if it doesn't improve.
Someone suggested cold tea?

My tricolour cavalier suffered a red eye the other day.  I took him to the vets as I didn't want to leave it (I was told not to mess around with eyes).  The vet couldn't see anything wrong at all and just gave me some antibiotic drops for the week.  The next day he was fine so I wasn't sure what it was! I would probably just bathe it in warm clean water and see how your dog's eye is tomorrow, if it still red take him to the vet.

I'd take him the and get him checked over there could be a hundred reasons why it's sore. It could be disticiatris or anything, i doubt it would be caused by fleas. where about is his eye red? i know you said a corner but is it the eyeball or the lid? good luck

warm regards susan

I also bathe my dogs eyes with cold tea now and again.  Don't know whether it's an old wives tale but it does help.  I would get your dog to the vets though as you don't know what's caused it.
