Please could anyone tell me;what is the best disinfectant to use when breeding a litter
A; to scrub the whelping box clean?
B;would you make puppy visitors walk through a disinfectant solution before seeing puppies or remove thier shoes(not easy if viewing puppies outside)?
C;What would you recommend they washed their hands in prior to handling puppies?
D;Where you buy any of the suggested products? Internet sites, pet shops or dog shows?
Also what is the most cost efficient way to buy vetbed and where from?
Many Thanks for any replies.
D.
get some vercon and use it for everything, washing dishes, hands, feet, spray the pups, mum and yourself and visitors.

Hi there,
When I was at Crufts and expecting a litter of puppies, I enquired at the Animal Health stall as to what disinfectant was most suitable for my whelping box. I was told that most of their disinfectants were for use in outdoor kennels and not suitable for use in a whelping box. I used a simple Milton Solution for my box. Safe and effective.
For hands, I purchased alcohol gel from my local chemist.
My pups were indoors so I just asked them to remove shoes. Had they been outdoors, I think I would have suggested polythene bags over their shoes! :D
My vet bedding I purchase from a friend who owns a pet shop, so can't really help you out there.
Hope this helps
