Hi

Our 13 week old Rottie Puppy suffers from car sickness as we live in the country we have to travel at least 8 miles to training class and ring craft also any socialising requires a car journey.
We do not feed her before any journey and try to take her for short runs as much as possible tonight at training we were advised to use sea legs could anyone advice if this remedy will be ok for a 13 week old puppy.

Thanks

Pete

I dont know about see legs but have you tried a little pepermint oil and ginger oil on a tissue in the air vent? Also start making sure that the dog spends time in the car just playing and not traveling, to ensure that it is not the car that is causing problems, just the motion.

Thanks Bluebell I will give the peppermint and ginger oil a go we have tried her in the car for a play and she is fine.
On short journeys of around 2 miles there is no drooling she is quite normal so I am convinced it is the movement of the car causing the problem.

Hi Borderman

I Have used sea legs in the past for one of my irish setters i began using these when he was 15 weeks old they are great and he was never sick again i used them for about a couple of months then 1 day gave him none and he was totally fine in the car.  I started out for the 1st month on half a tablet then increased to a whole one but i may have got away with just a half all the time i just didnt try it.  You can get them from most chemists if you can not see them ask at the counter.
But also try 1st the other advise to check it is the motion making him sick.
Good luck with your baby hope all goes well.
Regards
Hayley

Hi, I'm not really sure on the ethics of advising this??? But, I was told by a Vet to get CHILD travel sickness tablets and give half a tablet to my Giant breed puppies?? There again I used to have a Bernese that was sick EVERY time she traveled!!! Nothing ever worked on her and she eventually stopped when she was SIX!!! LOL :D All the best, Dawn.

I've used Sea Legs tablets for years on dogs that are car sick, still have one I have to give to if going on a long journey, she is now o.k. on short local car runs. Give about 1 hour before travelling.
