Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / my new puppy problem

Hi my name is andy and i have just recently got a 14 weeks old staff i couldn't ask or a better trained dog all apart from on problem.
When my wife or myself are out he doesn't pee or poop at all but when we are home he tends to pee on the carpet even though the door is open for him to go out and he gets walked three or four times a day, i tried putting him outside after this has happened and telling him of but he still does it from time to time, at first i thought it was from excitement from seeing us but he even does it when we have been around him for best part of the day.
We don't know what else to do so could anyone give us some advice that might help ? please

thanks
andy

He is just a baby.  He won't have full bladder control until he us around five or 6 months old.  It is just like a baby just out of nappies, they often pee their pants.  If he is distracted or busy he will find he just has to go.

You should be TAKING him outside and waiting for him to perform and praise lavishly.

Just to add what Brainless has said, young puppies need to be watched like hawks..ad they need taking out every 20 to 30 mins, after meals, excitement, play and upon waking after a snooze. It doesn't take too long for them to pick up the idea that they need to ask to go, help your little man by praising him for going outside, he'll soon get the idea :) Good luck
