I attended Crufts for the first time this year and fell in love with the silvery-grey collies I saw there. I had no idea they came in that colour. However,on looking through the internet I have come across varying details:some sites have pictures of these collies and call them blue, while others have pictures of "blue" collies that look positively black and white!
I am looking for a puppy now and would love to know what I'm looking for. Can anyone help, please?

Hi dont mean to confuse you but do you mean blue or blue merle. These are two different colours my guess is if they are definitly silver its been blue merle you have seen .Gillian

Sorry to cause confusion!
I definitely don't mean blue merle. I know the merle should give me a clue but as they consist of patches of dark and light coat, I don't know which solid coloured dogs would be called blue. The dogs I saw were solid silvery-grey with the traditional white markings.Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to talk to any of the owners so I couldn't ask!
Thanks for your reply,Gillian.
LynnT.

There is a great variation in the shade of blue in the blue and white Border collie. They range from what looks like charcol to a slate colour.Sorry to assume you maybe wern't aware of the merle.I have both colours merle and blue in my dogs but dont breed at the moment.Could maybe help with some contacts if you are interested in finding out some more about blue and white BCs Gillian
